Project Overview
Beijing Chaoyang Foreign Language School (High School Campus) is located in a densely populated urban area, with residential communities surrounding the campus.
The school playground is an important space for sports classes, daily exercises, and large-scale events. However, traditional broadcasting systems spread sound in multiple directions, making it difficult to provide clear audio coverage without affecting nearby residents.
To maintain active campus activities while creating a more harmonious relationship with the surrounding community, the school upgraded its outdoor audio system with Audfly Directional Sound Speaker technology.
The Challenge
For schools located near residential communities, outdoor broadcasting requires a careful balance between communication needs and noise control.
The school faced several challenges:
-
Traditional loudspeakers allowed sound to spread beyond the playground area
-
Outdoor announcements could affect nearby residents during daily activities
-
Reducing volume levels would compromise speech clarity for students
-
The school needed a solution that supported teaching activities while minimizing community noise impact
Simply lowering the volume or limiting outdoor activities could not solve the fundamental issue of uncontrolled sound propagation.
The Solution
The system was carefully installed and adjusted based on the playground structure, speaker positioning, and required coverage area. Through precise sound field control, the solution directs audio toward the intended listening area while reducing unnecessary sound propagation toward surrounding communities.
Powered by Audfly's directional audio technology and A-AFC algorithm, the system effectively controls sound behind the speakers, achieving a front-to-back sound pressure level difference of up to 40 dB.
During operation, students and teachers can receive clear and balanced announcements within the playground, while sound intensity toward nearby residential areas is significantly reduced.
The Results
Following installation, the school achieved a better balance between outdoor communication and community comfort.
Key benefits included:
-
Clearer outdoor announcements and event audio
-
Reduced sound impact on nearby residential areas
-
Improved sound control within the playground
-
Better support for sports activities and campus events
-
A more harmonious relationship between the school and surrounding community
The project demonstrates how directional sound technology can help urban schools solve outdoor broadcasting challenges while maintaining a comfortable environment for nearby residents.
